Comment settings

Inforiver provides a number of settings such as private and public commentary access, access to lock/unlock threads, an option to enable/disable notifications and more. Periodic commentary digest can also be configured using Comment settings.

a) Click on 'Settings' in the 'Comments' dropdown.

You can see a side panel with two tabs - General and Comment digest. Let's take a detailed look at these tabs.

General settings & comment digest

1. General settings

​a) By default, comments are enabled. To disable commenting in a report, uncheck the highlighted checkbox and click 'Save'.

b) You would no longer be able to add comments.

c) To open the comments panel, by default, on opening the report, check the highlighted checkbox.

d) By default, all users within the domain can comment. But there are a number of customization options available regarding commentary access.

i) Private commenting

a) If you want to allow commenting to be done by only specific users within the domain, select the highlighted option. A new field gets enabled where you can add the users.

b) When private commenting is enabled, you have the option to provide users with access to lock/unlock threads. Users can be added as shown below.

ii) Public commenting

With public commenting, you can log in using your LinkedInGoogle accounts and collaborate with your social networks.

The below screenshot is from this demo on public commenting hosted on the Inforiver website. When you click on 'Sign in', you get additional options such as LinkedInGoogle.

To publish a Power BI report to the web, follow the steps here.

To configure public commenting, paste the URL of the webpage in the field shown below.

e) Email notifications for new replies or mentions can be turned off. In the 'Settings' panel, uncheck the highlighted checkbox.

f) The report name that is shown in email notifications can be changed as shown below.

g) To delete all comments in the report, click on 'Delete all comments'.

h) Changes made in the settings panel can be reset using the 'Reset all settings' option.

2. Comment digest

Users can schedule periodic commentary digests to quickly analyze the conversations, tasks and exceptions. Scheduling these digests is out-of-the-box with flexible frequency options and does not require the involvement of IT.

a) Comments digest can be accessed through the 'Comments' dropdown -> 'Settings' -> 'Comment digest' tab. Click on 'Setup comment digest'.

c) The available options are -

  1. Start and end date - Can be selected using the date picker

  2. Schedule time - Time and time zone can be set

  3. Frequency - Daily, weekly and monthly digests can be scheduled

  4. Recipients - Email addresses of recipients

d) Once you customize as per requirement, click 'Save'.

Distribution Lists can also be added as recipients.
