# FLOOR

The FLOOR function rounds a number (towards zero) to the nearest specified multiple of significance.

### Syntax <a href="#syntax" id="syntax"></a>

```excel-formula
floor(value, significance)
```

### Arguments <a href="#arguments" id="arguments"></a>

value - Number or reference. This is a required argument.

significance - Multiple to which the number should be rounded. This is an optional argument. If missing, the number is rounded to the nearest integer less than the number.

```excel-formula
floor(11,3)
```

Returns 9 which is the closest multiple of 3 less than 11
