Analyzing raw numbers in budgets or forecasts can prove to be tedious and time-consuming. Visuals like charts and graphs, on the other hand, help stakeholders quickly grasp underlying patterns and outliers in data.
Inforiver enables you to stream budgets, forecasts, and simulations from Matrix visuals to Analytics+ and instantly visualize complex data.
Easily compare budgets/actuals, and forecasts
Quickly spot and adjust variances that need action
Evaluate multiple what-if simulations
Make real-time, strategic adjustments to your budgets and forecasts based on the visualization
Let's look at the configurations involved with setting up the data streamer.
STEP 1: Add an Analytics+ visual to the page.
Add an Analytics+ visual
STEP 2: Assign at least one measure to the Analytics+ visual.
Assign a measure to the Analytics+ visual
STEP 3: Navigate to Global Settings > Data Streamer tab. Click Add New to set up a data source for the Analytics+ visual - the data source contains the dimensions and measures to be streamed to Analytics+.
Add new data source
STEP 4: Assign the dimensions and measures to pass to Analytics+. You can also rename the data source to something more relevant by clicking the icon. Click Apply.
In this case, we are comparing the budget and simulated budget across regions.
Assign dimensions and measures to stream to Analytics+
STEP 5: Enable the Analytics+ toolbar by hovering over the top of the visual and clicking the button. Click the Pivot data button.
We have enlarged the Analytics+ visual to fill the canvas to demonstrate these steps. The same configurations can be done without changing the size of the visual.
Select the data source we configured in step 4 from the dropdown.
Selecting the data source
STEP 7: Analytics+ automatically renders a chart based on the dimensions and measures streamed. You can re-assign measure/dimension configurations as required by assigning them to the appropriate bucket.
Chart rendered based on data source
STEP 8: Analytics+ offers alarge repository of charts for every business case.Change the chart type based on your data and specific reporting requirements.
Changing the chart type
We've changed the Waterfall chart to an integrated variance chart.
Notice how the variance changes in the chart in response to the simulations we run in the Matrix visual.
Instantly visualize changes to simulations
STEP 9: Follow the same steps described earlier to create new data sources and stream them to Analytics+ to visualize the same report from different perspectives.
Adding a new data source and selecting the chart type based on the data
STEP 10: You can filter the data that is streamed to Analytics+. Click the Add Filter button. Notice how the 'West' region is filtered out.
Adding filters
West region is filtered out from the Analytics+ visual
Watch how the chart updates dynamically in response to the changes in the forecast.
