# Connect to Data

There are two ways to connect to existing data in the databases:

1. **From the Power BI Report:** Use the **Get Data** option in Power BI to connect to the data through **Direct Query** mode.

2. **From the Editable Console:** Select '**Create Table'** and choose **Use Existing Data.** The detailed steps are available [here](https://docs.inforiver.com/editable/getting-data-into-editable/create-a-table/use-existing-table).

In this section, we will focus on connecting to an existing database using the EDITable visual in Power BI. This process involves the following steps:

1. [Get Data](https://docs.inforiver.com/editable/getting-data-into-editable/connect-to-data/get-data)
2. [Assign fields](https://docs.inforiver.com/editable/getting-data-into-editable/connect-to-data/assign-fields)
3. [Configuration Steps](https://docs.inforiver.com/editable/getting-data-into-editable/connect-to-data/configuration-steps)

All these are explained in the upcoming sections.
