Hierarchical data Support

PreviousDate in List ViewNext3. Hierarchy Filter

Last updated 2 months ago

When hierarchy data (e.g., Dates) are added to the chart, they are presented as a Hierarchy, featuring an icon that allows users to expand or collapse the hierarchy. By default, the data is displayed in an expanded state within the visual.

  1. The top level of the hierarchy includes an expand/collapse icon located at the right corner of the panel, represented by arrow marks.

  2. Clicking the collapse icon condenses the hierarchy into a single panel, displaying only the hierarchy heading. In this view item cannot be selected.

  3. Clicking the expand option unfolds the hierarchy, revealing all levels as separate panels. In this view items can be selected from the panel shown.

Group Filters Using Custom Hierarchies:

Hierarchy grouping in Power BI allows users to combine related fields from a dimension table, making filters more organized and easier to navigate. With expand/collapse options in Super Filter, it enhances usability while saving valuable space on the report canvas.

  1. Create a Custom Hierarchy: Build a custom hierarchy by grouping columns from tables based on your requirements.

  2. Add to Category Section: Add the custom hierarchy to the Category section of the visual.
