With Analytics+, you can customize the variances by changing the icon, color, and size. Let's explore the options in this section.

1.1. Include icons

Variable size icons

The icon size is proportional to the magnitude of the variance - higher variances will have larger icons.

1.2. Prior period var

1.3. Treat zero as neutral

Highlight zero variances with a different color and symbol.

1.4. Invert variance colors

Enable the toggle to interchange variance colors. In this report, red represents positive variance, and green represents negative variance.

You can use the on-object interaction menu to invert the variance for individual panels. This will impact the sparkline, variance border, accent bar, and KPI metrics as shown in the images. Notice how the variance has been inverted for only the Q2 panel.

1.5. Positive/Negative/Neutral

You can change the color of the variance icon and value. You can also change the icon itself by choosing from the built-in icons. Analytics+ also allows you to use a custom icon by clicking the Upload Icon button.

In the example, we've changed the color for positive, negative, and neutral variances. We have also selected a different icon from the list of built-in icons.

1.6. Variance display

You can display the variance as a percentage, the actual value, or both. Select the required option from the dropdown.

In the example, we have displayed the variance percentage and the actual variance.

1.7. Variance border

Enable a border to the top/bottom/left/right side of the variance. You can specify the thickness of the border.

The border will automatically inherit the variance color. When multiple variances are plotted, you can select the variance that drives the border color from the Variance measure dropdown.

Analytics+ displays the variance icons (, ) by default. You can choose to hide them by de-selecting the Include icons checkbox.

You can set a custom label for the variance. In this example, we've changed the default to PY variance.
