Gantt resource

Gantt resource charts are an effective tool to track allocation and workload distribution. They visually represent which resources are assigned to a particular project and the allocation duration, making it easier to ensure a balanced workload and efficient resource utilization.

Let's look at the steps involved in creating a Gantt resource chart.

STEP 1: Just like we do for a regular Gantt chart, choose the Gantt option from the landing page and assign the tasks and subtasks to the axis visual parameter. We'll assign the actual start and end dates to the Gantt fields parameter.

STEP 2: Map the ActualStart and ActualEnd dates to the start and end dates in the Pivot data window. A basic Gantt is rendered when you click Apply. Enable the toolbar and click the drill down icon to fully expand the hierarchy.

STEP 3: Switch to resource allocation mode in Analytics+ by selecting Gantt resource from the chart type dropdown.

STEP 4: Notice how the projects are rendered sequentially in chronological order and allocated against each employee.

STEP 5: We can add conditional formatting rules to differentiate between different projects and make the Gantt chart easier to grasp.

STEP 6: We can adjust the data labels to display the project name inside the bar. In this case, we've changed the position to 'Inside-center', changed the font color to black, and disabled the default background.
